According to SF Weekly, the station changed KRON-4’s building number from 1001 to 1001552 in January 2006, based on advice from the station manager’s “astro-numerologist”, Jesse Kalsi. Business for the station had previously been abysmal. According to Young Broadcasting, the station owner, this number “patch” improved business. Young Broadcasting states that one of the results was the station’s deal to become a MyNetworkTV affiliate. “Obviously, there are skeptics who think it’s a bunch of hooey, but I can tell you things seem to have improved since the change,” said Pat Patton, KRON-TV’s programming director. “Morale is better, people are happier,” he said. Many staffers saw the numerology as one more indication that station management was “nuts” and in far over their heads.
